In 2004 NAFI began developing affordable housing projects for the population it serves. NAFI's Pinchot Community Apartments and Child Care Facility is currently in its design phase. The project includes an 18-unit apartment complex with a laundry room and community room. The apartment complex will be located near NAFI's Pinchot Learning Academy, a childcare facility that will also offer job-training opportunities.
NAFI currently provides affordable independent living opportunities for seriously mentally ill (SMI) adults through its Sober Homes Program. SMI adults wishing to reside in Independent Living Communities are provided safe and stable environments that include Supportive Services. NAFI is in the process of purchasing additional units to provide more housing for the seriously mentally ill.
